Meetings In Person and Online
At the Ohio Valley Camera Club, we foster a vibrant community for photography enthusiasts of all levels. We meet in-person and online during our educational meetings, which are held on the third Wednesday evening from January through November from 6:30 – 8:30pm EST. Our gatherings are not just about sharing photos; they are an opportunity for learning and growth. Each meeting features professional photographers who present educational meetings and programs covering various topics in Photography and Processing. For instance, one month we might dive deep into landscape photography techniques, exploring the nuances of lighting and composition, while another session could focus on the intricacies of post-processing images in Lightroom or Photoshop.
In our club, we encourage not only skill development but also the exploration of creativity through various photography styles. Members often share their experiences with different cameras, lenses, and accessories, exchanging tips on how to achieve particular effects or overcome challenges faced during shoots. For example, some might present their journey with macro photography, detailing the unique settings and adjustments needed for capturing stunning close-up images of nature. Others may discuss their adventures in street photography, sharing insights on candid moments and ethical considerations.
These educational meetings help strengthen our community and ensure that members can exchange knowledge effectively.

Our educational meetings are a key component of our efforts to engage members and foster creativity.
For those who might be new to photography, we have mentorship opportunities where experienced members guide them through the basics. This includes understanding technical aspects such as exposure, ISO, and shutter speed, as well as the artistic components such as composition and storytelling through images. Our community thrives on collaboration and support, making it an ideal environment for photographers at any stage of their journey.
In addition to these educational segments, we dedicate time to a constructive critique of our images. Members are encouraged to submit their work for review, allowing for valuable feedback that can enhance their skills and inspire creativity. This interaction creates an environment where both budding photographers and seasoned veterans can share insights, discuss different approaches, and learn from each other’s experiences.
As a club, we also recognize the importance of showcasing our members’ work. Therefore, we regularly host exhibitions, allowing photographers to display their best images to the public. This not only boosts their confidence but also encourages them to strive for excellence in their craft.
