BEYOND CAPTURE – CREATE IMPACT February Evening College

March 3, 2025 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm

FEBRUARY EVENING COLLEGE CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Beyond Capture: A winning image is not always one that wins a competition. It may be one that has appeal to consumers or one that is worthy of being displayed in your home. Regardless of the definition we choose, all winning images have impact. This program will define impact and discuss how to create images that make a connection with the viewer, evoke an emotion, illustrate a concept or new idea, or perhaps show something new to the viewer. From composing our images to enhancing them in post processing, we can share our vision and communicate with our audience. Finally, we will explore the stages we experience in our photographic journey and how we can take our photography to the next level.(45 – 60 minutes)

.Bio:
Our Speaker has had a lifelong interest in photography and art. Her first images as a child were captured with a Brownie Starflash camera, which she used throughout her school years. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Liberal Arts degree, taking every art course she could fit into her program of studies. After earning a Master’s degree in Education she pursued a career as a school administrator, where she found she could use photography for staff training purposes and for producing interesting newsletters for the community and for families of her students.

She really started pursuing her passion for photography after she retired in 2004.  She and her husband live in Arkansas, but travel the country extensively looking for unique opportunities to capture the character and natural beauty that surround us.

She ascribes to the philosophy that you can never belong to too many camera clubs.  She is a past president of the Hot Springs Village Camera Club, a founding member and current president of the Nation Park Photography Club, and a member the Heard Nature Photography Club in McKinney, Texas. CLASS: Bad Weather Photography

Weather is such a critical factor in our outdoors photography yet it’s a factor that we have not control over and cannot predict, especially when we plan a trip well in advance. However, bad weather shouldn’t mean ad conditions for photography. It may offer special opportunities for unique photography with different subjects. For example, bad weather conditions often make pictures moody, expressive, and different from standard calendar shots.

In his presentation, we’ll see how to take advantage of bad weather conditions and how to handle the challenges that they preset. He will share photographs and discuss the opportunities, considerations, and precautions when photographing outdoors in bad weather.

Our photography instructor focuses on the creative aspects of the photographic art form.

Bio:

Our Presenter’s experience covers the complete photographic process, including analog photography, darkroom work, and extensive digital imaging.

He frequently judges photo contests, including multiple international Salon competitions and juried exhibitions. He presents photography programs internationally and exhibits his fine art photography. He also photographs events and conducts photography workshops.

He is the recipient of numerous awards in photo contests and his work and articles have been published in the US and internationally.

BLINK: Nation’s Largest Art and Projection Display

March 3, 2025 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm

DIRECTIONS FOR THURSDAY NIGHT

Thursday evening, we are meeting at Music Hall on Elm Street at 7pm. Personally I would arrive at least one-half hour early. NOTE: traffic along Elm St. is ONE WAY North bound. Our plans are to shoot around the Washington Park area. This area has been highly recommended by those visiting in prior years.

Suggestion: go online and download a Blink Map for Over-the-Rhine

A couple of suggestions for parking: two blocks south and across Central Pkwy there is parking normally for $5. Or to the east or north. Also, across from Music Hall is the underground parking garage. Tip: the closest pedestrian entrance/exit to Music Hall is at the northwest corner above the garage. When driving into the garage you are heading eastward. At the end turn left, north, and again go to the end. Again, turn left, west, and park near the end. The staircase and elevators are right there.

Our leader this evening is a long-time member, Paul Synder. Paul will be joined by his wife, Jan Curie. IF RUNNING LATE PAUL WILL WAIT UNTIL 7:10 PM.
Paul’s cell phone: (513)410-7800

Have a great time. I wish I could be with everyone, but that is possible.
