Caesar Creek State Park is a public recreation area located in southwestern OH and spans Warren, Clinton and Greene counties. The park is leased by the state from the Army Corp of Engineers. The park in total sits on 7,530 acres. Caesar’s Creek Lake has 36 miles of shoreline and is 2,820 acres of blue water. Photos of the trees turning orange and red from across the lake gives you a vibrant reflection . We will start out at The Pioneer Village a living history located near the SW end of the lake. After taking photos of the historic buildings surrounded by fall colors we will move on to the spot where I took the picture shown above. The Ohio Valley Camera Club is pleased to announce our semi-annual exhibit this Fall with Mapleknoll Retirement Village in Springdale will open Thursday, October 5th 9:00 am. Our Opening Reception with hors d’oeuvre and drinks will begin that evening at 5:00 pm and will continue until 7:00 pm. The reception is FREE. Our accepted jurored prints this year are outstanding. Approximately 50 prints will be on display.
All OVCC members are welcome to attend the opening reception. Be sure to bring a guest or two.

Continue to second stop sign, turn right on Rock Maple Drive and the Village Center entrance is just ahead at the flag pole. There will be Special Event signs along the route.
If you are approaching from Sharon Road to the south, turn right into the property at Rock Maple Drive, park as close as you can to the Ambulance Circle (just ahead on the left) and enter through those doors, marked Bodmann Pavilion.
Mapleknoll and OVCC go way back. Maple Knoll will have refreshments for the Reception night – You do not need to be present at the reception in order to show.
Our multi-theme exhibit this Spring consists of: Artistic Imagery or Landscapes or and any subject matter that has to do with Cincinnati landmarks, people, history, etc. will be acceptable. Crossing the river is permitted as long as it says Cincinnati in the overall theme.

CRITIQUE: SHAPES AND PATTERNS
THEY RESULT FROM THE COMBINATION OF LINES AND ANGLES. THEY CAN BE REAL OR IMPLIED. “A shape exists as a being or object, both which possess lines, mass and often a silhouette we struggle to recognize… Geometric shapes (forms} are the fundamental elements of a photograph. With the color and tone, they are the fundamental elements which we really need. As soon as we start to perceive a photograph as a set of geometric shapes, tones, and color, we stop imaging it from our own detailed perspective and analyze its basic structure, or skeleton. For instance, a fish or animal is no longer seen as a portrait but a series of geometric shapes. You must add the emotional expressions, the texture of the fur plumage, or scales and play with the light to produce a quality picture.
PROGRAM: Eric Hatch will present on his project GLACIERS IN RETREAT, now on display in the Evendale Arts Center.Thirteen years in the making, this project reflects the challenges of climate change and the spectacular beauty of the dying glaciers.
BIO: Eric Hatch, Ph.D, has lived in the Cincinnati area since 1974. He has had six careers: teaching, writing, communications management, organizational development consulting, and photography. As a fine art and travel photographer, Eric has won numerous awards and competitions. Eric is also an accomplished artist at photo restoration. He has served on the board of the SW Ohio chapter of Professional Photographers of America, and he is currently Editor at Exhibitions Without Walls. Eric’s last exhibit, “Disappearing Glaciers” was a part of FotoFocus Cincinnati 2022 at Mohawk Gallery. His one person show, “Hard Times for These Times,” has concluded its run at the Middletown Arts Center. It was followed by “Faces of Addiction” (5 showings to date). Next in line is “Active Geology.”

Visit the Raptor, Inc. complex, where their educational birds will be displayed for your photographic pleasure. Birds are perched and hand held by the handlers. Photographers are as close as 10-15 feet from the birds and have lots of time to shoot. Tripods and telephoto lenses of 200-400mm are recommended, however, not necessary. NO FLASH.

How Can Photographers Evolve in a World with Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
Bert Sirkin, who has presented a number of topics of interest to photographers to OVCC members, is back for yet another topic of interest in the news in recent months. This Event is OPEN TO ALL EVENT MEMBERS CURRRENT IN DUES and trial members.
Photography has undergone a paradigm shift with the emergence of AI. The past year has been just the beginning, merely scratching the surface of the changes that AI holds for photography. Bert’s fascinating presentation explores the far-reaching implications of AI on photography. He will venture into unexplored territories, uncovering new perspectives you may not have yet considered.
Bert will also demonstrate some of the AI options available to photographers today. Gain valuable insights into the diverse applications of AI, including the groundbreaking AI features in Photoshop’s retail and beta versions, alongside a range of other cutting-edge AI tools.
This will be an on-line Zoom presentation from Bert. One or two days prior to the presentation an email will be sent to those who have RSVPd for the on-line meeting link.

A BLAST: 1869 BASE BALL AT HERITAGE VILLAGE, SHARON WOODS PARK

Base ball is FREE to watch inside Heritage Village Museum; however, a Hamilton Co. Parks parking pass/fee may be enforced, and admission is required to tour the Heritage Village buildings. Obnoxious or rude behavior, dogs or other pets, and smoking are strictly prohibited within Heritage Village and are subject for removal. However, chairs or blankets, a good picnic and complimentary cheers for great plays are highly encouraged! And until the pandemic is over with, we ask that you please exercise and respect 6′ social distancing practices while spectating.
DIRECTIONS: Enter off Reading Road, approximately one-quarter mile south of Kemper Rd. At Guard House, usually someone is there collecting daily or annual park fees. Proceed to the second drive on the left into Heritage Village Parking up toward visitors building. Walk to the right side, visitors building onto a wide path, and you will see and hear folks gathering to your right.
The Cincinnati Vintage Base Ball Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to faithfully recreating the sport of base ball as it was played in 1869, the year the legendary Cincinnati Red Stockings famously introduced professional base ball to America – coast-to-coast – and defeated every team it faced.
Our club features two teams honoring historical teams from the era – the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings and their local rivals from the time, the Cincinnati Buckeyes – who have been playing vintage base ball since 2000 and 2001 respectively. Both teams play ball in authentically recreated uniforms, with equipment made to the standards of the period. The most striking difference is the lack of gloves, which were not used regularly until the 1880’s. We utilize the rules, customs and terminology of the day, maintain honest sporting attitudes during play, and field capable, gentlemanly ball players from all walks of life who share the same love for the game of base ball. The result is an educational, historic and entertaining experience that anyone can enjoy.
We make our home at Heritage Village Museum in Sharon Woods Park, just north of Cincinnati, OH. This small village of period buildings full of “living history” makes the perfect backdrop for a game of vintage 1869 base ball and gives Dan Lyon Field its high acclaim among vintage ballists and fans. We also travel to many historical locations and events in the Tri-State and all around the Midwest, playing dozens of other vintage base ball teams from across the country.
