Walk through Cincinnati’s Riverfront Parks, past the Serpentine Wall, cross over into Newport. We will climb the stairs to the river levee, view downtown Cincinnati and continue walking along the River. We will cross over the Licking River, cross back into Cincinnati on the historic Roebling Suspension Bridge to our starting point. This is an easy 2 ½ mile walk.
We will break up into groups not larger than 10 persons. Wear mask and social distance. Thank you.

Maple Knoll Retirement Village Fall Exhibit Cancelled Due to Coronavirus
What: A Photo exhibit open to the public. Where: Maple Knoll Village, 11100 Springfield Pike, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246 When: The exhibit runs Thursday, September 17 through Thursday, October 29, 2020 Opening Reception: Likely not this year.
EXHIBITION THEMES WILL BE ARTISTIC or CINCINNATI. Tip: when selecting your images people generally purchase what they relate to.
REQUIREMENTS:
” Any sales of images will be managed directly between the artist and Maple Knoll. Maple Knoll will retain a percentage of the sale price (30%), so price you images accordingly. ” Once you have been notified that your image has been selected, you will be required to download, print, and fill out a written form to attach to each piece selected for the show. ” Individuals will be notified which photos were selected via a group email announcement. ” Submissions – Each person may submit up to five (5) images for consideration ). About 50 – 60 photos will be chosen for participation. Deadline for submission is July 20th to Auguest 3rd up to midnight. Selections will be announced on Tuesday, August 18th.
” Drop Off – Selected finished works must be dropped off at Maple Knoll Village offices on September 14th – 15th, 9am-4:30pm or by appointment – call (513)782-2462. ” Pick Up – Unsold pieces must be picked up at Maple Knoll: November 2nd – 3rd, 9am-4:30pm or by appointment. Any prints left will be donated to charity. ” All photos must have hanging hardware of some sort when delivered (sawtooth hangers are acceptable). Attach a small label with your name and the title of the work and contact information somewhere on the back of each work. Also, you MUST fill out an entry form which MUST accompany each work in the exhibit. You will be notified where to download a copy of that form at a later date, so keep an eye on the event page for this exhibition.
HOW TO POST SUBMISSIONS: ” Please post your entries to the following website link: https://ovcc2.smugmug.com/upload/SRGnLH/ExhibitatMk2020 ” Upload your photo without digital matting, framing or personal watermark. Images will be watermarked by the club during their stay on the SmugMug site. They will be viewable there only in large format and will have right click disabled. ” You do not have to upload large files to the site for consideration. Try to keep your file sizes reasonable. 1400 pixels on the long side is more than enough for consideration of acceptance. Your print is what you are selling, not the digital file. So, try and keep them under 8MB. ” SAVE your image in jpg format and title with Your Name, Title of Piece, Type of Medium, Outside Finished Dimensions of the Piece, Price, Your Email and Phone before uploading. Any image without contact information will not be considered and deleted from the Gallery. If you are already a Smug Mug User, be sure to log out of your own account before trying to post in OVCC’S account. ” After you have uploaded your images, CLICK ON “DONE” in the upper right hand corner. ” Pricing information: It’s important to consider your costs and the Maple Knoll cut when pricing your images. You should be able to profit a minimum of 10 to 30% after all the expenses to produce your work, including the Maple Knoll cut. This year it is 30%. Make sure you add at least 40% to the price, over and above what it cost you to produce the work.

FRED HAASER BIO:
Fred started out in Photography as a young teenager using a Polaroid Swinger, moved to full 35 mm film kit in 1980, and then digital in 2000. Today he is a serious amateur photographer using pro equipment traveling on-location in search of the best images possible.
Fred retired in 2016 after a 36-year career as an engineering manager developing 3 gas turbines for GE Aviation in Cincinnati. He is now Co-Organizer of the Ohio Valley Camera Club (OVCC), and working to capture images at all 62 US National Parks having completed 42 currently, and with 12 more planned for 2020.

Historic 19th-century church with dramatic architecture, twin towers, stained glass & murals.
Mother of God Parish is a parish church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington, Kentucky. Italian Renaissance Revival structure. The building was dedicated on September 10, 1871. This, their third building, sported a large portico supported by four Corinthian columns, two large towers and a central dome topped with a lantern and cupola. In 1875 a magnificent Koehnken Organ was installed in the church balcony. The official title of the parish is The Assumption of Mary, Mother of God, Parish. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

MARKS KRAUS BIO: I am a Nature Photographer living in Cincinnati, Ohio. My passion is photographing wildlife indigenous to the Southern Ohio area. I have always loved doing things outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Now I bring many of those skills to my photography. I like to show views of wildlife many have not seen before. A good portion of my photos are taken at local parks around the greater Cincinnati area.
I have been photographing on and off for about 30 years. About 15 years ago I made photography a serious hobby, almost an addiction. Changed totally to digital 8 years ago and never looked back.
Mark has always loved Macro Photography Mark explains, “When I was starting out years ago, I couldn’t get enough of John Shaw books. I think his book Close-ups in Nature is what started my addiction. I also like photographing any type of wildlife especially birds and small animals. If it gets me outdoors or in the woods, I will find something to photograph. And even if I do not get a shot, it will still be a great day.”
Mark has won several awards over the years and have had images picked as top photos on the Nikonians web site for Macro and wildlife subjects. Link to Nikonians web Interview with Mark Kraus.

All non photographer guests are required to pay, simply because of the space limitations and Raptor, Inc. policy.
RAPTOR INC. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of local birds of prey via rehabilitation, education and research.
Visit the Raptor, Inc. complex, where their educational birds will be displayed for your photographic pleasure. Birds are perched and hand held by the handlers. Photographers are as close as 10-15 feet from the birds and have lots of time to shoot. Tripods and telephoto lenses of 200-400mm are recommended, however, not necessary. NO FLASH.
You need not me be a member to attend and you may bring a guest, but all attendees, including guests, must pay the fee. All monies are for the benefit of Raptor, Inc. to help them continue their great efforts.

POSTPONED: Wright Brothers Photo Trail Around Dayton, OH Let’s Go Flying
Photo by Rich IGNORE THE TIME ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED. THIS EVENT IS BEING POSTPONED UNTIL SAID TIME SUFFICIENT FACILITIES WILL BE OPENED.
Background – We live just south of the Aviation Heritage region centered around Dayton, where Orville and Wilbur Wright made controlled powered flight a reality, and started their own commercial business to sell airplanes.
ITINERARY:
WRIGHT MODEL B FLYER FLIGHT – we will visit the Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport hanger museum in Miamisburg south of Dayton and view a working reconstructed Model B Flyer – built to modern standards with modern materials and components. which visitors can arrange to fly in!
The Airport is also home to Wright “B” Flyer, Inc., a non-profit organization that maintains a hangar museum honoring the accomplishments of the Wright Brothers and operates growing fleet of “lookalike” reproductions, including a historically accurate and beautifully crafted replica of the Wright Brothers’ Model B airplane.
Last time here two of us arranged to fly. It was an absolute thrill. For $100 you can purchase membership and can reserve a short flight (more of a hop along the runway that will reach about 70 feet in altitude). INDICATE in the RSVP Comments if you also want to pay for a flight I will contact you once reservations can be made. It would be nice to get at least 2-3 persons in the air to allow ample photo opportunities for everyone. Call me for reservation information.
Huffman Prairie Interpretative Center (WPAFB Property) – the National Park Service operates a museum center dedicated to the brothers and their accomplishments. A Park Ranger will (hopefully) greet our group, and take us into a 30 minute video to provide background on the Wright Bros showing captured video of their early flights. After the video we will spend another 60 minutes viewing the other exhibits in the center, and then going outside to photograph the monument to the brothers and overlook to Huffman Prairie.
ADMISSION: FREE
Participants/Carpooling – this meetup will cover 90 miles round-trip with three stops. We will meet at the West Chester Mid-Pointe Library parking lot to arrange carpooling and then take off. Up to 2 guests are permitted.
