Reds Fireworks from New Devou Park Overlook
June 27 @ 9:00 pm – 10:30 pm
The city of Covington just recently added in late 2024 a brand new concrete patio/apron at the Devou Park Overlook (next to the Drees Pavilion). We’ve never photographed the Reds Fireworks from that vantage point, where the fireworks will appear to be over Cincinnati and the river. Come join us for this opportunity to capture great shots of the city with fireworks. A special permit is required to be in the park after dusk and has been submitted. ANYONE ATTENDING WILL NEED TO PROVIDE (BY EMAIL) TO FRED HAASER (PACK489@YAHOO.COM) YOUR VEHICLE LICENSE PLATE STATE AND PLATE NUMBER BY JUNE 20TH to avoid being ticketed by park rangers. I have already paid the fee to reserve the overlook, attendees will be asked to chip in $5 each.
Camera Gear: A tripod and wide angle lens (24-70mm range) will be needed to capture your images. I also recommend a shutter trigger to hold down to capture 2-3 shells at a time for the best captures. A one page instruction handout on how to setup and shoot fireworks will be available at the shoot.
Directions: there are several ways to the Overlook (put the Drees Pavilion into your GPS). A map of your destination is included below.
