PHOTOGRAPHER’S GUIDE TO OHIO AND NEIGHBORING ART SHOWS TO EXHIBIT AND VISIT               

Personally I was always impressed with the quality and creative art talent on display at art shows.  This is especially true for those that are juried.  If the show is reasonably well organized and substantial in size, likely it is juried. Artists present generally three to five pieces of artwork to a panel of judges.  Judges can be respected members of the art community to credible photographers.

For our website visitors and our members it is suggested you familiarize yourself with art shows and what they represent.  Whether you would enjoy visiting or exhibiting in art shows you will appreciate the skills it took to display at a juried show.

Typical Applications procedures:

  • Complete application form.
  • Submit four (4) work images and one (1) booth image with work displayed. If you are applying in two or more categories, please submit an application for each medium. No visible signatures allowed in the work images.
  • Booth Images: Please show 3 walls of your booth. Remove artist names, business names, booth signage, booth tags, people, and animals from the booth image. Remove artist and business names from your artist statement as well.
  • Your application will be removed if you do not comply with the jury image standards above and your jury fee will not be refunded.
  • If you are applying in a non-jewelry category but wish to exhibit jewelry in your medium, you must submit a separate application for jewelry.  For example, you work in ceramics and wish to display your handmade ceramic jewelry within your booth.  Please note in your Artist Statement that you are applying in a non-jewelry category but wish to show a small amount of jewelry in your booth. If your jewelry does not pass the jury you will be unable to display it if accepted to participate with your main medium.
  • Submit application fee (see following information). Application fees are non-refundable

All artists must apply to Art by the Falls 2025 through Zapplication. Five images must be submitted; four (4) different pieces representative of your body of work and one (1) booth image. The Art by the Falls jury is conducted by a panel of three experienced artists and industry professionals. Invitation to exhibit is based solely upon the quality of the work as illustrated in the submitted digital images.

Digital Media – This includes art that uses varying degrees of digital manipulation, digital illustration/painting and any artwork that uses artificial intelligence tools.(Digital Media) Artistic practice that uses digital technology as part of the creative or presentation process. (Digitally Manipulated Photography) Digitally editing a photograph significantly using digital filters, manipulating color, saturation, tone, or vibrance that is not the natural or original color, pixelation, any photoshopping beyond basic edits, erasure of elements in photograph, and recombination of images. All submissions in Digital art MUST include one photo with ready to hang artwork and the Artist Statement must include descriptions of process, including software used.

DIGITAL IMAGES:
Applicants must submit four color digital images, via the ZAPP application. Three images must show individual pieces representative of current work. The fourth image must be of the display that will be used at the show with the full range of work displayed.  $25 Jury Fee.

For most shows, a fifty dollar ($50) deposit may be made in lieu of the full booth fee ONLY if the event is thirty (30) days away or more.

Columbus Arts Festival 2025

Digital Art – Work in which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using the computer. (Digitally edited photography within the confines of what could be done in the darkroom should be submitted in the photography category.) Work must be printed on archival quality paper and be signed and numbered as a limited edition of no more than 250. Artist must disclose and display both their creative and printing processes in their booth during the Festival. Work generated by or with the aid of Artificial Intelligence is prohibited.

The Columbus Arts Festival will send e-mails on February 10, 2025 to all artists informing them of their status.  

  • Booth Space: $595 for 10’ x 10’

  • Corner booth: +$100 (space located at end of a run of tents with at least 10’ of open space adjacent on one side – first come, first served)
