REGISTRATION CLOSED: Mastering Landscape Photography

Details

Photography spans a broad spectrum from casual snapshots to profoundly moving images. At one end are snaps that are taken largely to capture and preserve memories. At the other end are works of art.

The goal of this class is for you to:
Learn the concepts and techniques used to create beautiful
landscape photography.

How and when to use these concepts to create expressive
photographs.

Gain a better understanding of when and where to find fantastic light
and how to use it to use light to create mood.

Exploring Composition with a fresh approach, emphasizing concepts
of visual weight, balance, and Visual tension.

How to apply principles of graphic design.

Digital Processing: learn how to best use tonalities and color, for
every topic covered and Learn to understand the impact on your
viewers.

In this class we will take an intensive look both into creating a photograph and processing it in the digital darkroom. The goal of this class is to introduce you to concepts and techniques that may be new to you. And in so doing, the hope is to give you the opportunity to take the next steps in your photographic journey. Whether you think of yourself as an artist or not, my hope is that, if nothing else, you will start to think of your photographs as a means of personal expression. This is an exciting journey upon which to embark, a journey with abundant rewards.

Participants may forward three images for potential processing by Ralph. Images must be in RAW format. Deadline: Friday, February 19th.

BIO: Ralph Nordstrom California
At the start of a journey, one never knows where it will take you. For me, being an artist is the compass of my trek. By invitation from the Joshua Tree Institute for many years Ralph Nordstrom teaches two classes,” Mastering Landscape Photography and Fine Art Photography. But these two classes have completely transformed my photography. Now my approach to a photograph is not just to share a beautiful landscape but to express what I’m feeling. In an effort to share what I have discovered along the way I am now writing a book based primarily on the Mastering Landscape Photography class but also including elements from the Fine Arts… class. Ralph leads photography workshops in California, Oregon, and Utah.
