TOM CROCE: NATURE, LANDSCAPE AND WILDLIFE FINE ART PRINTS, SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

“I spent my early life in Northern Ohio, and I received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In 1987 I received a Master of Architecture from Washington University in Saint Louis, Mo.

As long as I can remember I have loved photography and nature. I would watch all the nature and wildlife shows I could find and dream of someday seeing them in real life. In 2006 my love of photography and nature came together to help sustain me through a difficult time in my personal life.

Today my passion for nature photography has taken me to places that continue to take my breath away. Taking a picture is about being consumed by the moment and an expression of the feelings and emotions I experienced at that moment.

My art business has been designated as a “Trusted Art Seller” with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.”

Black And White Photography in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park

February 6 – 9th

Feb. 6th – 9th 2025

If you are interested in creating compelling black and white images, this workshop is for you. Winter in the Smoky Mountains is a truly unique experience. Long gone are the crowds, and a stillness settles in the mountains. The emphasis of this workshop is going to be on making compelling, dynamic B&W images. We will start off with some instruction on how shooting with B&W in mind differs from shooting in color. In the field we will discuss composition, exposure, filters, and other technical issues that can help improve your images. Saturday afternoon will be spent doing some image critique and demonstrating B&W conversion techniques and tools.

The weather is always a determining factor in the exact schedule, but tentatively we will plan on spending majority of our time in Cades Cove and the area around Tremont.

In order to ensure the maximum amount of personal attention the number of participants for this workshop is limited to 6. We will spend several hours each day shooting the unique winter landscape in and around Cades Cove, Tremont.

Participants should have a strong understanding of exposure and know how to operate your camera. Each day’s schedule will vary depending on the weather, but in general we will be photographing most of the day as long as the light is good. This will be hands on learning and all questions and issues will be addressed in the field.
