Bockfest is Cincinnati’s annual celebration of Spring and is Cincinnati’s funkiest and most entertaining parade. One of largest in nation.
The Bockfest parade is traditionally lead by a goat pulling a keg and the reigning Sausage Queen along with the official parade marshal. This officially marks the beginning of a weekend of festive celebration that might end in blaming a goat on your horizontal position. Goats, the German Renaissance, beer, irreverence, and originality are all highly esteemed aspects of a parade entry. There are no fire trucks for the kids. In the past, entries have included faux-monks pulling a Trojan goat, Goat Busters, German beer bands, keg-men, goats on Segways, Bockalypse, “Bockter” Suess, and patriotic chants of “drink more beer.” The parade will start to form in front of Arnold’s Bar and Grill, located at 210 East 8th Street, step off at 6:00PM. MEET: AT THE ALLEY NEXT TO ARNOLDS BAR at 5:30 pm to catch up on the lay of the land and where best to shoot the parade. Capture several people dressed in Renaissance Costumes, etc.PARK: Paid parking lot entrance off east bound 7th street just east of main street. Walk out onto blocked off 8th street.

BIO:
Susan Milinkovich began photographing with her father when she received her first Brownie camera in elementary school. Her dad gave her the gift of “seeing” a photograph and both parents gave her a love of nature and an appreciation for the beauty to be found in our everyday world. Susan has attended workshops with nature photographers John Shaw, Charlie Waite, Charlie Cramer, John Barclay, Tillman Crane, Kathleen Clemmons, Bill Lea, and Will Clay. While Susan enjoys capturing the larger landscapes, it is the intimate details of a landscape, structure or flower that draws her attention and tells a story. Susan has participated in exhibits at galleries around the Cincinnati area and has been a part of Cincinnati’s PhotoFocus. Susan leads photowalks, teaches classes and workshops, is president of one of the camera clubs she attends, and is an ongoing instructor at the photo workshops at the Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont. Beyond Capture: A winning image is not always one that wins a competition. It may be one that has appeal to consumers or one that is worthy of being displayed in your home. Regardless of the definition we choose, all winning images have impact. This program will define impact and discuss how to create images that make a connection with the viewer, evoke an emotion, illustrate a concept or new idea, or perhaps show something new to the viewer. From composing our images to enhancing them in post processing, we can share our vision and communicate with our audience. Finally, we will explore the stages we experience in our photographic journey and how we can take our photography to the next level.(45 – 60 minutes)

CLASS: Bad Weather Photography
Weather is such a critical factor in our outdoors photography yet it’s a factor that we have not control over and cannot predict, especially when we plan a trip well in advance. However, bad weather shouldn’t mean ad conditions for photography. It may offer special opportunities for unique photography with different subjects. For example, bad weather conditions often make pictures moody, expressive, and different from standard calendar shots.
In his presentation, we’ll see how to take advantage of bad weather conditions and how to handle the challenges that they preset. He will share photographs and discuss the opportunities, considerations, and precautions when photographing outdoors in bad weather.
Our photography instructor focuses on the creative aspects of the photographic art form.
