Our fellow members at K & R Photographics (Rob and Wilma Kumler) will be providing macro lenses (Nikon or Cannon) and some special lighting for use at Krohn Conservatory’s Night for Photographers. This is intended for adults only (18+).
Tripods and monopods welcome.

Visit the Raptor, Inc. complex, where their educational birds will be displayed for your photographic pleasure. Birds are perched and hand held by the handlers. Photographers are as close as 10-15 feet from the birds and have lots of time to shoot. Tripods and telephoto lenses of 200-400mm are recommended, however, not necessary. NO FLASH.

URBAN ABSTRACT: OVER THE RHINE
This event is limited to our Event members current on dues.
Join in the fun of learning how to look at the familiar through new eyes. One sense of abstract is to Identify something of interest, then abstract (remove) the surroundings. Our city’s largest historic district, Over-the-Rhine is believed to have the single largest grouping in our country of Italianate Architecture, similar to New York City’s Greenwich Village.
From inside and around Findley Market we will begin our adventure though OTC to Music Hall and then eastward. This area is rich in imagery to capture. Then if you have an appetite we will take in the ever popular, The Eagle Food and Beer Hall near Vine St and 14th.
I will be brining a wide – telephoto zoom lens.
Parking Suggestion: A 450-space underground parking garage at Washington Park is located directly across Elm Street from the front doors of Music Hall. Then ride the Connector Streetcar, you are at Stop 8, a few feet north of garage. Exit Stop 12 in front of our meeting location. After our event ends walk westward 3 blocks to parking garage. PAY PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT YOUR CAR – AT A PAY STATION – located inside glass entrances to garage.

We are planning a day of waterfalling with our good member, author and state water fall expert, Tina Karle in May. As Tina has published seven books on waterfalling in Ohio, she knows her stuff. Participants will need to be flexible on the date. A couple factors we will be giving consideration to will be the proximity of rain within a few days before and reasonable weather the day of.
Our day will fall either the first, second or third weekend in May and will occur on either Saturday, May 7th, Sunday the 15th, or Saturday 21st.
Meet Tina Karle for a day of Ohio Waterfalls. Visit waterfalls northeast of Dayton, like John Bryan State Park, Massie’s Creek, and Clifton Mill, to name a few. Not to be missed. Sorry we can only do 10 people, but parking at falls is limited in most cases.

Tina says, “Hiking with me is always an adventure. You NEVER know what you may get to see or get into! As others who have been on my hikes will attest adventures seem to always happen on one of my meetups! I DO carry a first aid kit now with me due to a recent mishap I had while out with a friend back in October. A simple rock on a misstep can sure ruin a day! I want everyone to be safe and I do my best to do so for everyone! But rocks in creeks have a mind of their own and a misjudged footing can lead to a dunking!”
We also need to ride share to save on gas!
We WILL be getting lunch while out on this meetup.

The museum honors past Cincinnati firefighting efforts, celebrates today’s firefighting advancements and champions fire safety. In 1853, Cincinnati created the nation’s first paid professional fire department, and its organizational plan became a model for other cities across the country. Cincinnati has also been known for its prominent role in the technological and organizational development of the American Fire Department.
The building that now houses the Cincinnati Fire Museum was once home to the Engine Company #45 Fire House (in 1906). The Cincinnati Fire Museum is in the National Register of Historic Places because of its architectural design and the city’s primary architect, Harry Hake. When the Engine Company #45 was decommissioned in 1962 it became a city storehouse, and in 1980 was given new life as the Cincinnati Fire Museum.
If we can at least confirm 10 people, they will provide an educational and informative guided tour. If we don’t get 10 confirmations, we’ll do the self-guided tour.

The Volunteer Era Collection (1808-1852) “This includes unique items that help outline the evolution of firefighting in Cincinnati and across the country.
The Steam Engine Era Collection (1853-1912)
The Modern Era Collection (1913-Present) “The Safe House” is a place where a visitor can experience the true danger of a fire in their home.

Join Pam as she shares some of her favorite locations to photograph in Cincinnati! From river cityscapes to flowers and historical landmarks. Workshop limited to 8.
Pam Decamp is an award-winning fine art photographer who travel the United States and abroad. Decamp lives in southern Ohio; she captures images off the beaten path and give them special attention in post-processing. Images of leaf covered roads, mountain vistas, and whimsically nostalgic scenes inspire her viewer to experience the beauty of our nation. Pam holds a Bachelors Degree from Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio) in Film and Photography.
About this event
Pam will share her expertise and knowledge on how to capture the beauty of the skyline at night and how to use a slow shutter speed to capture the fireworks that will fill the sky. She will share composition tips, creative perspectives, and points of view to create the unique images of the city. Editing techniques will be discussed as part of the creative process.
Friday will begin with dinner on the river and then photograph the city skyline at sunset into the blue hour and then fireworks after the Cincinnati Reds baseball game (weather permitting).
Saturday begins with a trip to Cincinnati Union Terminal, a wonderful art deco train station that opened in 1933. Then to Spring Grove Cemetery to export the gardens, landscapes, and gothic crypts in this historic cemetery. The group will venture across town to Eden Park and Krohn Conservatory for an afternoon and evening of macro and landscape photography.
Sunday will finalize the tour with a trip to Music Hall and Findlay Market!
There will be opportunity to share images for critique and suggestions on editing.

Greenfield Plant Farms has invited OVCC members to photograph their flowers. What to expect. They are situated on eight acres at 726 Stephens Rd, Maineville Ohio. They have many greenhouses plus. They raise and sell flowers for the Cincinnati Zoo. Over 200 Annuals and over 500 perennials.
A TRIPOD AND MACRO LENS ARE SUGGESTED.
Unfortunately the Blue Herrons did not show up this year.
Their regular operating hours are Mon – Sat 10 to 4 pm and Sundays 11 – 4 pm. NOTE THIS IS A SPECIAL ADMISSION TIME PRIOR TO OPENING FOR THE PUBLIC. If you just cannot make it on a Sunday, you are welcome to stop by any time, just expect a lot of people during popular times.
