LIMITED TO DUES PAYING MEMBERS, THEIR GUESTS AND OUR NEW MEMBERS
Part 1 – Come join OVCC on Thursday, August 1, in discovering some symbols of two fraternal organizations: the Odd Fellows and the Freemasons. These symbols can be found on numerous monuments, mausoleums, and headstones located throughout Spring Grove Cemetery.
Rich’s Comment – Sharon has done an excellent job, already scouting where we will be visiting. Sharon may at her discretion after the tour choose whether or not to share her notes.
Let’s meet by 6:15 pm at the customer service parking lot to the right of the main entrance. The Event Coordinator Sharon Naderman will speak for a few minutes prior to the start of the event. We will then leave at 6:30 pm in caravan formation to tour and photograph the designated sections. We will finish just before 8:00 pm.
We will start with Sections 14, 15 and 16. The tall Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F) monument is in Section 15 with Moses at the top and Friendship, Truth, and Love at the base.
Bring your camera or phone and join us! This is also a great opportunity to shoot with an Infrared converted camera. Stone details really come out with the IR cameras. You may also want to bring a flash to use in areas with shadows. And depending on how you shoot, you may want to bring your tripod.
Part 2 – Debrief Session will be held on Thursday, August 8th. Submit up to three images on Smugmug Link by 6 pm Tuesday, August 6th at:https://ovcc.smugmug.com/upload/2nm98z/Additional
We will meet online to share our thoughts behind taking our images and how we processed them. Others will get to contribute their impressions of each image, too.
PUBLIC RESTROOMS are in the foyer of the Customer Service Center. They are open until 8:00 pm during the Summer Gate Hours.
THURSDAYS – You MUST exit by 8:00 pm and no later – GATES LOCKED at 8:00 pm. If you miss the deadline, do not panic. Just drive to the next gate to the south
