If interested, bring a covered dish, or bring a lunch and drink. AFTERWARDS they will be driving trails, cones, and obstacles at will for the rest of the afternoon.

Or come over after one o’clock or later just to capture their riding.
You might consider upon arriving getting a lay of the land for natural backgrounds and scenery. Have a tripod for when they are riding.
The address is of Rustic Valley Farms is 4810 Olive Branch Stone lick Rd. Batavia OH 45103. This listing site does not show it, but this is a real location.

Ohio Valley Carriage Club (OVCC) is a club of carriage collectors and horse owners who hold “rides” throughout the year, where members bring their horses and carriages to a location, harness up, and then “drive at will” through the location (that is, not a parade).

Some of the members wear period clothing to add to the authenticity. Traditionally we have made our photos available to the Carriage Club afterwards for personal use. If they want to use your photo for non-personal use, they will contact you to work out an agreement/payment.
Be Respectful – The carriage owners will not mind if we take photos during their harnessing process, but they will not want to hold conversations during that time to prevent an error in harnessing potentially causing a safety issue.

It has been since August 2017 our last meetup with the Ohio Valley Carriage Club at Armco Park (that other OVCC).
Bad Weather: watch your email the night before and the morning of in case we issue a weather-related notification.

We will be asking anyone who comes to sign our liability waiver acknowledging that you understand the OH equine law and that being on a farm has inherent hazards. See Below.

LIABILITY DISCLAIMER: As with all events posted on the OVCC Meetup board, in behalf of you, your family and all your other stakeholders, you understand the risks of such an event and accept entire responsibility and liability for your safety, welfare and losses, as well as those you register, indemnifying and holding OVCC organizers harmless.

PRESENTER: ERIC HATCH

PRESENTATION: REAL WORLD COMPOSITION. A Course for Practicing Photographers.

All photographs consist of objects (stuff) and spaces. Composition is how you organize the “stuff” in your pictures to tell the story you want to tell and exclude unwanted “stuff.”
The Composition Course gives you a lightning tour of some basic art principles, then demonstrates how to apply those to organizing the “stuff” in your frame. For example perspective, cropping to include, cropping to exclude, use of leading lines, avoiding bullseye composition, relying on diagonals, curves, repetition, foreshortening, perspective, use of negative space — you can do all these in camera, no Lightroom needed (though it can help after the fact).
You will see how basic compositional techniques add power, story-telling, excitement and zing to your photographs. We will cover a lot of ground very quickly, so fasten your seat-belts.
