PAMELA DECAMP BIO: Pamela Decamp is an award wining fine art photographer who travels the United States and abroad. Decamp lives in southern Ohio. She captures images off the beaten path and gives them special attention in post processing. Images of leaf covered roads, mountain vistas, and whimsically nostalgic scenes inspire her viewers to experience the beauty of our nation. Pam balances her photographic experiences between portraiture, macro and landscapes. Her exploration in infrared photography has challenged her from the stark contrast black and white images from Jekyll Island, to the playful fantasy of false color in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her viewers have been given a taste of altered reality of the world around them. Pam’s art has been on display in the state of Ohio’s Governors office, the southern Ohio, Portsmouth Museum of Art, the Huntington Museum of Art, and the Zanesville Museum of Art. Pam holds a bachelor from Xavier University in Film and Art.

7:40 PM MACRO EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATION. Macro photography is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects and living organisms like insects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size. CAPTURING THE FINEST DETAIL IS ONE THE OF THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MACRO AND CLOSE UP PHOTOGRAPHY. Macro requires a specialized lens that will produce image size greater than life size and finer detail. IF YOU DO NOT OWN A MACRO LENS you may use a telephoto lens for our critique session. Depth of field is extremely small when focusing on close objects. A small aperture (high f-number) is often required to produce acceptable sharpness across a three-dimensional subject. This requires either a slow shutter speed, brilliant lighting, or a high ISO. Auxiliary lighting (such as from a flash unit), preferably a ring flash is often used (see Lighting section). This will be a repeat class for Exposure, Part 1. Some members have already taken this class when we were using the MidPointe Library conference room. Owing to the conference room size a number of persons were signed up for the repeat class, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 virus. However, the number of persons who can now attend an on-line session is such that anyone can attend this class.
In 2020 the OVCC is planning to provide a host of training sessions for beginner, intermediate, and advanced photographers. This session will be for beginners who want to understand the basics of Exposure, Part 1.
Covered in this session will be a quick revisit to the all important Light Triangle Diagram followed by an in-depth presentation on how you and your camera should be used to set the exposure for your images. Owing to the amount of information, Session 3 will cover Exposure, Part 2, which is tentatively set to be on-line April 18.
I will also show the syllabus for future training sessions so you can see how you will build on what you learned in this session.
A link to the PDF file of the presentation will be emailed afterwards to those who sign up at the session to be on distribution.
This will be an on-line meeting using the GoToMeeting Application. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ATTENDED A PRACTICE SESSION YOU NEED NOT ATTEND THIS ONE ALSO.
In preparation for continuing OVCC meetings on-line we are offering a training session using the app GoToMeeting I have set-up a practice session for this Saturday, April 4 from 2-3 pm. The goal of this meeting is for you to demonstrate you can access this meeting on-line as practice before the OVCC monthly meeting. I will remain on-line from 2-3 pm so that you can join the meeting, learn how to use the basic tools, interact, etc. For this session you only need a computer, however, if you have a laptop with a built-in camera you will be able to also project your image to the group.
Use the link below to download the GoToMeeting App before the session. I have posted a file at my Dropbox that explains the use of the GoToMeeting app at this link (this is a Windows explanation but the Apple version should be very similar).

PRESENTATION:Photographing Abstracts: The techniques behind the best images. Excellent Abstract photography doesn’t happen by chance. It is rarely the accidental blurred shot that works as an elite abstract image. It is through careful photography and technique where the best images are created. So–expand your creativity! A whole new world of photography, creativity, and fun opens up when you break the boundaries of traditional imagery and explore photographing abstracts! I will teach you the techniques behind creating the best images. Abstract photography is all about taking the everyday objects and transforming them into something creative and mostly unrecognizable in comparison to their original form. Through instruction, videos, audience-interaction and inspiration from your instructor and fellow participants, you will learn:
· How to apply basic compositional guidelines while using your creativity and vision to create abstract images · How to use intentional camera motion (ICM) and motion blur · Patterning and its application to abstract photography · How contrast, shadows, color theory, textures, edges, and more can help you design images that are artistic, ethereal, and fun · How to present your abstract images for impactful, stunning wall art and more! This session is always full of laughs, freedom, and creativity. It’s a great class for any level of photographer with any camera–even a mobile phone!
